Outdoor exercise helps with mood and self esteem
“Working for me is walking and I can't wait to get back”
Working from Home, Reading, Social Media, Pub Quiz on Zoom, House Party App, Face time with family and friends, phone and board games.
All these can be interesting, fun and keep you entertained but staying active is great for the body, mind and soul. Yoga is also great, it gives you strength, flexibility, and mind-body awareness
But...
We really want to push you to go outside, but please stick to the social distancing rules (Exercise outside once a day and stay 2 metres away from other people)
Outdoor exercise is great because
1. Exposure to sunlight enhances vitamin D production
2. Moving outdoors has been shown to reduce anger and depression and improve mood
3. Research shows that as little as five minutes of outdoor exercise can improve self-esteem
4. It doesn't cost anything
This list could go on and on and on
Walking - My favourite form of exercise and great for all ages, it helps to build stamina, burn excess calories and make your heart healthier. We walk every day and track every step with the app Map My Walk.
Jogging/Running - A very healthy form of exercise that helps strengthen muscles and improve cardiovascular fitness. I've just started Couch to 5K (C25k) but I have in past used Map My Run, which keeps tracks of all your runs and the pace, elevation and calories burned for each mile.
Cycling - Is a top notch cardio workout. It's the perfect way to strengthen your lower body, with the focus on your legs and hips
Garden exercises - This is as easy as weeding or finally sorting out the garden and getting it ready for BBQ season. You can skip, dance and run, depending on the size of your garden (but I did just read about a guy who did a marathon in his garden 🤷♂️)
Stay safe,
Team Crocodile
